The Trip Home December 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — grainoflight @ 12:55 am

Well after a  GREAT and BUSY week, we headed back to Atlanta after the party.  We left about 2:30.  We made it to Chattanooga and fed McKinley and got some Smoothies.  Good thing because there was an accident at the 40/75 split and we sat in traffic for about 45 minutes.  Meanwhile, McKinley who had done great all week with new surroundings and lots of new people was just over it.  She was fussy and ready to be out of the car seat.  I climbed in the back (and I do mean climbed) to try to appease her.  The van was jam packed with 4 Christmas decoration boxes, Christmas tree, and all the STUFF you need for a baby.  Well, I let her chew on her shoe for a while and that worked for maybe 10 minutes.  She was tired and ready to be home – just like Andy and I.  I climbed back into the front to try to let her fall asleep and then McKinley proceeded to cry for an hour – YES an HOUR!  While I assume she needed to just get it out, it definitely made the trip more stressful for Andy and I.  We were all glad to finally be home and in our own beds.

This shoe has an interesting taste.

No more room.

Thatcher’s Birthday Party December 3, 2009

McKinley’s cousin Thatcher had his first birthday party on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  We got to take pictures with Andy’s grandparents and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We went through Nonna and Popa’s attic while we were back in TN.  We found Jill’s baby clothes and blankets from when she was a baby.  She also found her Cabbage Patch dolls and her favorite Glow-Worm.  Andy and Popa worked hard to get the Glow-Worm to light up again and McKinley loved it.  We even got a picture of McKinley in Nonna’s rocking chair.

That looks fun!

That Glow-Worm tastes good too!

What a grin.

We went to Bristol for Thanksgiving Day and got to have lunch with Papa’s side of the family.  Afterwards, we went by to see Gramzie’s mom – Nana.  It was a blur of a trip but it was great food and time with family. mcKinley even got to watch her first Stacy ping-pong tournament.  All she wanted to do was eat the ball.

We went back to Tennessee for Thanksgiving.  We got to be there from Tuesday through Saturday.  It was a great trip.  No rest.  Thanks for a wonderful time with everyone.  I know Christmas is just around the corner and will be even more fun.  Here are some highlights.

Aren't I so cute?

Love that smile!

We got to go to Fantasy of Trees with Michael, Heather, Brenton and Thatcher (her cousins).  Everyone had a wonderful time.  We had a great session with Santa.  McKinley was just so interested in Santa it was hard to get her to look at the camera instead of at Santa.

Who is this guy?

I think I like him.

What are you going to bring me for Christmas?

McKinley Turns 6 Months Old September 9, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — grainoflight @ 11:59 pm

On September 6th McKinley turned 6 months old.  We can’t believe how fast the months are passing by now and feel that McKinley is doing so many new things.  We spent the Labor Day weekend in Knoxville with family and friends.  On Saturday night we celebrated Heather’s 30th birthday and on Sunday we had a small family party for McKinley’s 1/2 Birthday.  We had a blast but were very tired by the end of the trip.  Thanks so much to everyone who made the weekend so enjoyable!  We Love You All!

Taking a breath August 23, 2009

Well, as many of you know – the blog has been last on the list for a month now.  With me returning to school and McKinley to Weekday at Buckhead, we barely have time to breathe.  I am hoping to finish this post before McKinley wakes up from her nap.

We have had many adventures in the last month.  Learning to eat rice cereal, rolling over, more talking.  McKinley is growing everyday. We have had lots of visitors this summer and even into this school year.

McKinley loves it at Weekday.   They say she talks a lot and loves to watch the other children.  They are all pretty much walking so she really is the baby.  Apparently one girl is mesmerized by McKinley and loves to watch her while McKinley is sitting in her bouncy seat.

I know everyone is dying for pictures so I will put as many as I can.20090723-DSC_0039
